The official name of Angola is Republic of Angola, basically derived from the Portuguese languages. Angola is well known for its natural resources like oils and diamonds.
The largest city Luanda, lies along the Atlantic coastline is the Capital of Angola. The average temperature on the coast stays around 21 degree Celsius during summers and around 16 degree Celsius during winter months. Though Angola has witnessed several invasions and wars but from past few years its' economy is becoming one of the fastest growing in the African Region and in the world.
China's Eximbank has approved a $2 billion credit to Angola that is being used for restructuring Angola's infrastructure and also to cut the impact of International Monetary Fund in the country.
Angola's growth largely depends on oil reserves, during year 2005; the oil production was 1.4 million barrels per day. Its' economy growth was 26% during year 2006 and expected to stay above 10% for the rest of the decade. Angola is now a member of OPEC.
Now, agricultural production of Angola is also on the rise, as 4 million of its people are resettled, as a result of peace settlement made in 2002.
Angola enjoys variety of cultures; there are over 100 district tribes and linguistic dialects. Ovimbundu, Mbundu (Kimbundu) and the Bakongo are the three dominant ethnic groups in Angola. There are also various minority groups including Mestico (Mixed African and European descent).
